The last of the great biographical movies directed by Bruno Monsaingeon, this exemplary documentary—“the most inspiring music film I ever saw,” wrote the Independent—uses archival footage and interviews to explore the truth about a mysterious character: Sviatoslav Richter, the Soviet artist who was widely regarded as one of the greatest pianists of the 20th century.
