Vladimir Jurowski, conductor
Hélène Grimaud, piano
BEETHOVEN: Piano Concerto No. 4
MAHLER: Symphony No. 5
The London Philharmonic Orchestra and Vladimir Jurowski performed Wagner's Prelude to Act 3 of Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg as an encore.
The London Philharmonic Orchestra focuses in this second evening on Mahler’s masterpiece Fifth Symphony, juxtaposing it with the playing of Hélène Grimaud in a Beethoven piano concerto.
“Everything we've come to expect from the LPO and Jurowski: precise gestures, judiciously paced movement, and wonderfully balanced sound.”
